A few years have passed

Wow 5 years later and I forgot I even had a blog. Yes, I had some broken promises of pictures back in 2007.  Here is something I wrote 2 days ago, September 27th 2012, when I was at home sick with a sore throat and no voice. As a teacher a sore throat and lack of voice pose a hindrance to doing job.

I was sick today and was reflective and worrying what someone thought of me and then my mind wandered to one of my brother’s many adventures.  A much better thing to dwell on than worry about what someone thinks right? Well, I was having a little self-pity coveting his adventures, in which seems to be lacking in my life as of late. The thing is it just hit. Brent loves life where he is at the moment. It is not about the adventures, but it is about making life an adventure, even if you live in an unadventurous place or are around unadventurous people.  It is about living life to the fullest no matter where you live, how old you are, or what your circumstances are. This may seem random but God has been using Brent a lot lately to show me to live the day to the fullest as if it is an adventure and not wait for the next best thing.
I think I have been doing that in my 5th grade class making an adventure out of it! So much so that I have neglected necessary things such as sleep and now I am at home sick. Ha it is ok though. Isn't it worth knowing that you poured all you had into something until God has to stop you or God using my lack of wisdom of not getting enough sleep to slow me down ?
When I was in my 20’s I missed out on life waiting for something better instead of making myself better and making the most of my circumstances.  I feel like I missed out at living life to enjoy it as much as I could. Seriously, thinking about  Brent’s life and I am challenged!  I had  been jealous even resentful I could not have the life he is living now. Yes I could have done what he is doing now.  In my 20’s after Word of Life I was trying to pattern my life after an idea if what I should be or what I thought people thought I should be.  I did not make the most of what was in front of me. I was often waiting for a better circumstance to make me more confident, happy, loved, or fulfilled.
Thinking on Brent’s life this morning really gave me a moment of release. His life reminded me I do not have to hold onto trifles or things of little importance.  During the day dream I was stopped dead in my tracks and realized how silly  I was being to worry about another teacher’s opinion of my teaching!   It is about living life to the fullest no matter where you live, how old you are, or what your circumstances are and not being crippled by people's opinions!  As my pastor would say, “Selah, think and act on these things”
